Hi guys and gals!
I’ve managed to find a spare bit of time to do an end of season write up. What a strange season we have had with effectively a mid-season break.
First up we look at the Premier League! The Flying Squirrels went in to the final 2 weeks of the season celebrating they had won the title (I even congratulated them!) but they still needed just 1 point from the final two games. After a loss against old foe/old fogey Gallow it came down to the final gameweek of the season. Alas, The Flying Squirrels were doing all but celebrating when Stokie Bloke came storming through at the finish line to take all the glories! Gallow continued his run of finishing inside the top 3 but who remembers who comes 3rd each year except him!
At the other end of the table Lord Bench of Banterbury finished bottom of the pack this was a step too far after a number of close shaves in previous years. Chris Horrocks after gaining promotion last year from the Championship goes back down this year along with Own Gilligan’s It’s a wyanRunnnnnnnn.
The Championship was almost a foregone conclusion before the restart. With Dave Pearson’s Den Perry Did It sitting 9 points clear at the top. But this somehow also came down to the final week with Dave winning his final game to secure the title was his! That’s back to back titles and promotions! Also congratulations to Gallifrey FC and the Green Mountain Boys who go up with Dave in the automatic places. It was incredibly tight for that final spot with 4 teams all going for 1 spot! Stay tuned those guys as you may gain promotion via the playoffs in the unlikely event a team drops out…
At the bottom of the table, it was WolfPack who had just gained promotion managed to sneak through in 17th place, meaning Bocadillo Allstars, Show me da Mane! and Prata who all get demoted down to League 1.
That brings me nicely on to my own league and League 1. Due to Graham Crompton being 11 points clear before the break and continuing his fine form halving his overall rank the other side of lockdown I can’t NOT promote him! So congratulations Graham Crompton, having looked at the previous leagues fixtures, you also would have won 8 of the remaining 9 games had the normal schedule resumed. I simply don’t have the time to do this for everyone and due to the gap he had created pre-lockdown I had to investigate further hopefully we can make contact before the start of the season to give you the league code as we at Banterbury Towers have lost access to the previous email – Please get in touch! This left 2 slots left for automatic promotion Pa Fealy with cracking 8 wins out of 9 post lockdown secured his promotion with Graham, the final spot could’ve been won by any of the next 3 Harry, Brian and Jose… Harry ended up securing promotion to the Championship by just 17 points on total score countback!!! Well Done mate!
Down the other end of the table sees Inittowinit*********, we love manchester and GroB Point Blank all get relegated with Katie Kennedy keeping her place in League 1 by the tightest of margins!
The League 2 promotion and title race was tighter than a camel’s arse during a sandstorm. Four teams, FC Boogax, @FPL_vs, FPL_Blade and Kante Neck a Pint were all going for the title into the final gameweek of the season with Kante Neck a Pint sitting on top but facing Ben Thompson’s team in 4th! FC Boogax won their game to finish on 80 points and 2338 score, as did @FPL_vs finishing also on 80 points but with a score of 2327 points! FC Boogax wins League 2 seeing as 4th beat 1st to nick automatic promotion from Andy Musetti who misses out on the final day! Nightmare! Well done Professor Boogie winning the league by just 11 FPL points – this won’t be the last you hear of him in this write up, did he do the double winning the Europa League?!
Down in the depths of the relegation battle saw Robbie Reilly, Patrick Cobbald and Biky S all relegated in what was a disappointing season for all 3, but FPL Boosters Hooters snuck in and stayed in League 2 in their first season.
The Conference was a completely new league with every growing numbers in the Banterbury Leagues! Horses for Courses managed to last the distance and remained unbeaten post lockdown winning 8 drawing 1. That was enough to bridge the gap of 6 points to NonSociallyDistant and steal the title from under his nose in the final week on points countback (2324-2285). A similar story for the 3rd automatic promotion spot where Stephen Toumi snatched his chance and was promoted due to scoring just 11 points more than Sandeep Atkar who may still go up if someone above him drops out the leagues.
FPL_Sauce’s Obi Wan Bissaka finished 18th with Wallace FC and HICKENHOPPER FC below him as 3 of the 4 to get relegated out of the football league and into the National Leagues! It was a 3 way tie for that 4th spot between Editor FC, Hollie and Three Bean King, but due to Three Bean King’s lack of participation since lockdown he has been relegated with Hollie and Editor both finishing the season strong!
Mo Son Jesus is King clinched the National League A title with a cracking 88 points the joint highest of all the leagues! There are only 2 from each of the National League sides that get promoted and that second spot goes to Adam’s Brewer’s Boys! Well done guys! There may be a couple more promoted for the reasons stated above so stay tuned!
FC COQUIS equals Harvey Smiths total of 88 points to win the National League B title and also promotion to the Conference! Keep an eye on these guys! Devang Relan’s Choker’s mayu have choked the title with a 3 point lead pre-lockdown but he managed the next best thing in promotion to the Conference! Again well done lads. I have added the score totals to the teams that may be contesting promotion, it will go down to Total Points in the league followed by FPL Points if still a tie.
FA CUP
I would like to congratulate CRYSTAL PALESTINE again on winning the mid-season FA CUP! In what was a season of two halves for this manager the FA Cup is a cracking win, well done Lewis!
EUROPEAN COMPETITIONS
Now over to the European Leagues! The links to these leagues can be found below if you wanted to go back through and check the scores.
We will start with the Champions League, Celtinha who narrowly missed out on the Premier League on the final week of the season didn’t have such disappointment in the Champions League as they swept aside (65-52) 2 time Champions League Final participant but never winner in Abra Dubravka! Well done Celtinha you can add this to your trophy cabinet alongside those 2 FA Cups! Eddie, there is always next year buddy! Unlcuky!
The Europa League final contained FC Boogax and Denbow’s Degenerates, but it was the League 2 champion that secured the European/Domestic DOUBLE winning his final 69 points to 54! Well done Professor Boogie a cracking season by you Sir!
So that’s that, another season finished another trophyless season for me! There will have to be some serious Blatter-esq goings on for me to fiddle myself Promotion for the second straight year but we shall see. Thank you all again for joining in the fun and we look forward to having you all back again next season which can’t be too far away!!! I’m not sure I will be able to handle more leagues next year so more than likely stick with the 7 leagues and 134 teams!
