Evening all,
The group stages have been completed, the top 2 in each group will qualify for the knockout stages. With the winners of each group playing the runners up of another group.
First up we have Group A, where Jose Halliday’s Ballsagna couldn’t overcome Graham’s Red Snappers Gone losing 26pts to 34 and as a result both teams have been knocked out at the first stage of the Banterbury Champions League. After losing the first tie of the group stages Wolfpack gathered and won the next 5 matches to qualify top of the group finishing off with a 40-25 point win over the biker yogi who also qualified as the runner up. Congrats guys, the final table looks like this…

The winners of Group A play the runners up of Group B… As I previously stated, this is a very tight group and with the right set of results everyone could finish on 9 points with 3 wins and 3 losses! That’s exactly what happened! Celtinha beat Gallifrey FC by 2 points (35-33)! That late Barnes goal dashed the hopes of Spurs’ title challenge but also put Alberto in contention to qualify after losing 3 of the first 4 matches! Meanwhile in the other tie Horse FC scored a very respectable 49 points against Borussia Teeth’s 31 but did he score enough goals! Deeney scored 2, Jiminez scored 1, but that late goal for Barnes took Celtinha to 19 goals in the group stages, one above Horse FC on 18 – Gallifrey FC ahead on 20 goals scored!

Group C we know the AllWhites and Guten Mjurgen both qualified first and second respectively, so the remaining ties are just formalities and whether AllWhites maintain their 100% win record. Madhatter scored a solid 57 points which was enough to beat AllWhites’ 46 points. In the other tie Guten Mjurgen won in a low scoring affair 32-26 against Owls Rule.

Over to Group D to see who AllWhites and Guten Mjurgen will be against in the last 16! Another tight group with 3 teams still able to qualify all on 9 points before the gameweek started. Owen Gilligan’s It’s a wyan, WUNNNN! simply needed to beat Den Perry Did It to guarantee qualification, which he did, 52-40. Fly and Calthis had a straight up shoot up for the remaining place… Fly scored 44points, Calthis scored 45, but took a 4 point hit to take his total to 41! As both Fly and It’s a wyan, WUNNNN! both beat each other in their H2H it goes down to goals scored in group stages where Owen’s team scored 20 and Fly’s team 19!

This means two more last 16 ties are sorted, AllWhites will take on Fly, and Guten Mjurgen takes on It’s a wyan, WUNNNN! Good luck guys!
Group E had the reigning champions in and they needed a win against a resurgent Dom’s Diamonds to qualify. They smashed it, 57-27! Meaning all On the Rocks needed to do was beat Gallowgators to qualify they did just that winning 48-42! On a countback for goals scored in the group stages, Barca Bitches scored 24, and On the Rocks scored 22! Barca Bitches win their group! Well done!

Group F saw an already qualified is group winner Son of a Pitch up against Ripcurl82 who needed a win to have a chance of qualifying. Ripcurl82 only amassed 29 points and lost to Son of a Pitch’s 42. Meaning the other tie was a straight up win and you qualify match up between Flatcap Brothers and League 2 leader, The Bookhouse Boys. Katie’s Bookhouse Boy’s managed a slightly above average score of 37 points, but in such a competitive league it wasn’t enough as the Flatcap Brother’s scored 47pts!

That means Son of a Pitch won the group and face up against On the Rocks! Whilst the other last 16 tie is reigning champions Barca Bitches vs Flatcap Brothers! Good luck!
Finally the final pairings of Groups G and H… Group G is another incredibly tight group, with anyone being able to qualify! First up Stu Lord’s That’s All Vokes! mustered up 45 points which was just enough to beat Jai Hiranandani’s wildcard Gloring Warriors which scored 42 points! In the other tie, Ctrl Alt Da Laet managed 46 points whilst Championship leader Focus on Your Game could only manage 36 points! Eddie Abraham’s Ctrl Alt Da Laet goes through as winner of the group and That’s All Vokes! goes through on goals scored (25- more than anyone in the competition so far) whilst Lyle’s Focus on Your Game scored 3 less on 22) both Toon fans through in this group!

Last but not least, Group H, where All the young dudes and the Busby Babes have already qualified, but who will play who? All the young dudes played and won against the Busby Babes securing top spot 46 points to 37. Whilst in the other tie, The Circus Monkey’s beat Auba’s Hairline to ensure they didn’t finish bottom of the group.

Congratulations to everyone that qualified for the knockout stages. Below is a graphic with who plays who in the knockout stages. Good luck to everyone. We have a break midweek, but the knockout stages return for the weekend’s matches! As explained in the rules, the knockout stages will be over two GWs (except the final in GW38). The team with the most points over the two gameweeks will go through. In the event of a tie, the team to score the most goals scored over the KO stage will go through, then least goals conceded, then the highest individual gameweek from the 2 weeks, if still a tie… a live coin toss will be completed.

There’s been a lot of counting up goals scored this week and my head is getting a bit frazzled!
