Banterbury Champions League – Group Stage Round 2 Update

The second round of games in the Banterbury Champions League saw the top and 3rd seeds (T1 and T3) battle it out and also the 2nd and 4th seeded teams (T2 and T4).

Group A is the tightest league with everyone winning 1 game and everyone losing 1 game! We saw Ballsagna lose 62-71 to the Wolfpack, a poor captain’s performance by Aubameyang proving to be the difference! In the other match Red Snapper’s Gone lost 58-(77-4) to the biker yogi.

In Group B Borussia Teeth continued to impress with a whopping score of 82 the highest score in the champions league this gameweek against the worst scoring team Gallifrey with a dismal 37 points. Harry Vernon’s Horse FC won their first match by the closest of margins (1 point) against Premier League table topping Celtinha!

The AllWhites won against Guten Mjurgen 60-54, whereas Madhatter won 56-50 despite taking an 8 point hit against Owl’s Rule who managed to win their League 1 tie by a point and climb to 4th!

In Group D, Owen Gilligan who was leading the Banterbury Prem not long ago has faultered in that but not in the cups. He is still in the FPL Cup and also won his second champions league match in a tightly contested (3 points) affair vs William Johnston’s Calthis (62-59). Fly managed to pick up a win 57-48 against Den Perry Did It.

Last year’s winner faced off with the previous years winner, which ended before it even started with Gallowgators taking an 8 point hit, which couldn’t be regained, losing (72-8)-69 giving the Barca Bitches another win and top Group E. Dom’s Diamonds lost to a solid scoring On the Rocks 70-47.

In Group F, Katie felt her Bookhouse Boys needed a shakeup and made 3 transfers to get Salah in and took a 4 point hit, but it wasn’t enough as Tom Moriarty scored 65 beating Katie’s score of 62 (66-4). In the other tie, The Flatcap Brothers scored a respectable 74 points sweeping aside Salahless Ripcurl82 who scored 58 points.

In Group G, That’s All Vokes faced off against Eddie Abraham’s Ctrl Alt Da Laet, who decided to use his wildcard early but forgot to save his team and benched Aubameyang! This proved to be an inspired choice as Wan Bissaka somehow amassed 3 bonus points despite losing 2-1! That’s All Vokes scored a very good 79 points against Eddie’s 55. In the other game the Championship outright leader Lyle Hartzenberg won 62 points to Jai Hiranandari’s 56 points.

Finally, in Group H All the young dudes won 66-56 against Auba’s Hairline, whereas in the other ties the Circus Monkey’s won in a low scoring affair 53-43 against the Busby Babes.

Gameweek 23 brings us T1 vs T2, and T3 vs T4 in each group in the final set of matches before a winter break in the group stage where teams can get some much needed rest and potentially some big changes made in personnel.
